Give the garden a life after sunset.
A canopy, a sculptural trunk or a layered planting bed can become the quiet focal point of an evening garden. Landmark plans tree and planting accents around what deserves attention and what should stay in shadow.
For everyday evenings. Looking for Christmas lighting?

Light the form, not every leaf.
A broad canopy needs a different approach from a narrow ornamental tree. The view from the house matters as much as the view from the street: a tree that looks striking from the driveway can feel overpowering from a nearby window. Choose the intended viewpoint and the part of the tree you want the light to describe.
- Trunks and branching patterns can create vertical structure.
- Selected canopy forms can provide depth beyond the front wall.
- Lower planting layers can connect a tree to the rest of the garden.
A living landscape will change the light.
Growth, seasonal foliage and pruning change how beams reach the canopy. Fixture placement needs room for plants to mature and for people to care for the beds. Discuss root areas, watering and access during planning; avoid treating a tree like a fixed architectural column.
Use planting accents to connect the evening view.
Garden lighting works best when it gives the eye somewhere to travel between the house, a path and the backyard. One raised bed or feature plant can be enough to keep the space from disappearing. More fixtures can add visual clutter if the planting has no clear focal point.
Planning a new garden and lights together.
If bed shapes or plant selections are changing, discuss mature size and fixture access before installation. For an established garden, identify plants that should remain and places you do not want disturbed. Send both a wide photo and a close view of the tree or bed for an initial conversation.
Useful before you call.
Is this the same as wrapping trees in Christmas lights?
No. Tree uplighting uses directed light to reveal the trunk, branching or canopy for everyday landscape use. Seasonal Christmas wrapping is a separate service with its own design and scope.
Can young trees be included?
Yes, young trees can be considered in the plan, but future growth and a proportionate amount of light matter. The best placement today should leave room for the landscape to mature.
What if my existing lights are now hidden by plants?
Send photos and describe the existing system. Ask Landmark to confirm whether re-aiming, relocation or work on that system is available; this page does not promise a standalone repair or maintenance visit.
